Harmonixity is a sonically inspired composition based on two different acoustical phenomena. One is the natural harmonic overtone of each saxophone and how its harmonic overtones change as it blends between the fundamental and lower harmonics. The second is the resulting harmony of acoustical reverberation, where a single line creates a sonic tapestry through its sustaining decay. For this second phenomena, the music evolves amidst an echoing melodic line, creating texture through elastically expanding 'instrumental' reverberations between the instruments
Harmonixity was written 2011-12 for the newly formed New Thread Saxophone Quartet to be performed on their inaugural international tour, and is dedicated to George Lewis.
