Sep. 15, 2010The Stuttgart Music Festival recently premiered the critical edition of Kurt Weill’s Zaubernacht (Magic Night)—the first performance of Weill’s original score since the composer’s parts and piano manuscript were miraculously rediscovered in 2006, after being lost for over 45 years.
Joseph Schwantner's The Poet's Hour..., for violin and string orchestra, premieres at the Seattle Symphony under Gerard Schwarz as part of Maestro Schwarz's farewell season commissioning project. Schwantner also completes his tenure as featured composer for the Ford Made in America program and his FMIA commissioned work Chasing Light..., played in all fifty states, becomes available for programming by orchestras worldwide.
