Korngold Featured at the Los Angeles Philharmonic

The music of Erich Wolfgang Korngold is once again delighting audiences, this month in Los Angeles on the Los Angeles Philharmonic's program entitled Pacific Standard: The Hollywood Sound. An homage to the city of Los Angeles' unparalleled contributions to the world of the film score, the concert at Walt Disney Hall on December 8 features Korngold’s Kings Row Fanfare as well as his magnificent Cello Concerto, which was used to such great effect in the film Deception.

"The Hollywood Sound" is part of the larger programming initiative Pacific Standard Time. This unprecedented collaboration, initiated by the Getty, brings together more than sixty cultural institutions from across Southern California during the 2011/12 season to tell the story of the birth of the L.A. art scene.  The concert on December 8 also features works by Bernard Herrmann, Alex North, Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams.  Cellist Zuill Bailey is joined by conductor Thomas Wilkins.
