Zemlinsky, Schreker and Schulhoff Featured in December Dance Creations at Juilliard

Dec. 05, 2007

This month Maestro James Conlon leads The Juilliard Orchestra through works by Franz Schreker, Erwin Schulhoff and Alexander Zemlinsky in a program entitled December Dance Creations. The program features newly-commissioned choreography set to the music of these composers. Zemlinsky's Sinfonietta is accompanied by the choreography of Nicolo Fonte; Schreker's Prelude to a Drama: The Stigmatized will be performed with a dance creation of Adam Hougland and Schulhoff's Ogelala is accompanied by Robert Battle's choreography. December Dance Creations is an integral part of Conlon's ongoing Recovered Voices project, which aims to showcase the work of composers whose music was branded as "degenerate" by the Nazi regime. There will be five performances of December Dance Creations at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in New York from December 13 through December 16.
