Wolfgang Rihm's <em>Trio Concerto</em> in US Premiere with Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Trio Jean Paul

The US premiere of Wolfgang Rihm's new Trio Concerto for violin, cello, piano, and orchestra is given by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Trio Jean Paul on April 16. The work was co-commissioned by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra, who presented the world premiere with Trio Jean Paul last September at the Musikfest Berlin.

Now in his seventh year as music director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Jaap van Zweden conducts the performance at Meyerson Symphony Center, which once again features Trio Jean Paul. Rihm dedicates the work to the German trio, which consists of pianist Eckart Heiligers, violinist Ulf Schneider, and cellist Martin Löhr. Repeat performances of the work take place on April 17, 18, and 19 in a program that also features Mozart’s Requiem.
