Theater für Niedersachsen Presents Nino Rota's Aladdin and the Magic Lamp
Feb. 16, 2022
The Theater für Niedersachsen presents Nino Rota's opera, Aladin und die Wunderlampe on February 19, 21 and 26 at the Stadttheater in Hildesheim, Germany. The production, conducted by Achim Falkenhausen and directed by Petra Müller, utilizes Rainer Schottstädt's 2003 reduction of the score.
Aladdin knows exactly what he wants: to play with his friends on the street and work as little as possible while still getting rich, having enough food to eat and later marrying the most beautiful girl in the whole of Arabia. An evil magician helps Aladdin, gaining his trust by giving him the present of a magic ring. The magician’s friendship is calculated, however: he merely uses Aladdin as a tool which will help him get hold of a magic lamp. The reduced version of the famous story also enables this popular work to be performed on smaller stages.
