loadbang Premieres Chaya Czernowin’s Irrational in New York

On March 7, loadbang gave the world premiere of Chaya Czernowin’s Irrational at OPERA America’s National Opera Center in New York City. loadbang describes the work as "...a tour de force for loadbang, treating the ensemble as a single organism that occasionally splinters off into fragments. Featuring both motoric drive and gauzy textures, the work is an astonishing timbral picture of what is possible with loadbang’s unique instrumentation." The work was commissioned by loadbang and funded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.

Additional performances of Chaya Czernowin's music this month include fardanceCLOSE, performed on March 9 by Caroline Grivellaro at the Casa del Lago, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City, HIDDEN, performed by the JACK Quartet on March 25 on the Monday Evening Series in Los Angeles, and Ayre: towed through plumes, thicket, asphalt, sawdust and hazardous air I shall not forget the sound of performed by Ensemble Contrechamps, led by Michael Wendeberg on March 29 at the Communal Hall of Plainpalais in Geneva, Switzerland.
