New Publication of Bernard Rands's Four Impromptus for Piano
Jun. 05, 2018

On June 30, pianist Daniel Pesca performs Bernard Rands's Four Impromptus at the Logan Center in Chicago. These dynamic pieces for solo piano were recently published in a new Edition Schott collection that is now available for purchase. Also newly available in print is Bernard Rands's Music for Shoko: Aubade, a work that was given its world premiere by members of The Cleveland Orchestra in January 2018. The chamber work is derived from the second movement of Rands's Concerto for English Horn and Orchestra, composed for Robert Walters and The Cleveland Orchestra and given its premiere in Cleveland in 2015.
Looking ahead, Bernard Rands celebrates his 85th birthday year in the 2019/20 season. On tap are two major commissions of new works for orchestra, details of which are soon to be announced, as well as multiple performances of his works and new recordings from NMC and Lyrita. We look forward to updating you on more of the composer's 85th birthday year activities in the coming season!
