Akira Nishimura Awarded the 69th Otaka Prize

Akira Nishimura’s KAKAISEKAI for Orchestra has been awarded the 69th Otaka Prize. This prestigious composition prize for Japanese composers is named after the Japanese composer and conductor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Hisatada Otaka. The Otaka Prize is awarded by the NHK Symphony Orchestra who select the winner by considering the composer’s works that premiered during the course of the previous year.
The NHK Symphony Orchestra, led by Ilan Volkov, will host the presentation ceremony for this award and perform KAKAISEKAI as part of “Music Tomorrow 2022” on July 1, 2022.
