The 2012 Summer Festival Season Launches!

As concert halls close their doors on another inspirational season of classical concerts and events, it’s time to move outdoors and savor great musical offerings under the summer skies at a host of festivals worldwide. Works by Bernard Rands, Tobias Picker, Andrew Norman, Jörg Widmann, George Gershwin, Georg Friedrich Haas, Matthias Pintscher, Beat Furrer, Jonathan Harvey, Oliver Knussen, George Benjamin, Luke Bedford and many others will greet audiences this summer from Tanglewood, Aspen, Cabrillo, Ravinia, to the BBC Proms and beyond.  A digest of select festivals is below.
