Kamran Ince's <em>Songs In Other Words</em> Debuts at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival; Portrait Concert with Present Music

As part of this year’s Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, which takes place at venues across Northern Germany, the intrepid “classical band” Spark gives the world premiere of Kamran Ince’s Songs In Other Words. The premiere takes place on August 1 at the historic ACO Thormannhalle in Rendsbug-Büdelsdorf, with a subsequent performance on August 2. Commissioned by the ensemble, Songs in Other Words transforms and reinterprets several music ideas from Felix Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words. Spark’s recent recording of the piece will be released on Deutsche Grammophon.

Later this season, Milwaukee's Present Music celebrates the music of Kamran Ince with a portrait concert featuring performances of five chamber works: Dreamlines, Zamboturfidir, Partita in E, Asumani and Two-Step Passion in a new version for chamber ensemble. The concert takes place on August 30 at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Recently premiered is Ince’s Fortuna Sepio Nos in a new version for Eb clarinet, cello and piano performed by Ensemble Vertigo. The premiere took place on June 28 as part of the Utah Arts Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah.
