World Premiere of Arvo Pärt’s <em>Prayer</em> after <em>Kanon Pokajanen</em>

On September 7, Tõnu Kaljuste conducted the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir in the world premiere of Arvo Pärt's Prayer after Kanon Pokajanen. This concert was a part of Arvo Pärt Days 2018, and also featured Pärt's Berliner Messe and Für Lennart in memoriam as well as a cantata by J.S. Bach. The group brings Prayer to New York on November 12 as part of the Sacred Music in a Sacred Space concert series at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola.

Performances of Fratres and And I heard a voice (I Ja ma kuulsin hääle) also take place this month. The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra performs Fratres, scored for chamber ensemble, on September 14 in Easton, PA, September 16 in Purchase, NY, September 20 in New York City, and September 21 in Troy, NY. In addition, the Sveriges Radio Choir, conducted by Tõnu Kaljuste, performs the Swedish premiere of And I heard a voice on September 15 in Stockholm, Sweden.
