World Premiere of Akira Nishimura's <em>Chamber Symphony No. 5 "Reincarnation"</em> with the Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka

The Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka gives the world premiere of Akira Nishimura’s Chamber Symphony No. 5 “Reincarnation”, for soprano and chamber orchestra, on February 6, led by Keiko Mitsuhashi and featuring soprano soloist Maki Ota. The performance takes place at Izumi Hall in Osaka City, Japan.

Nishimura’s Chamber Symphony No. 5 “Reincarnation” was commissioned by the Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka, with whom the composer is Musical Director. His previous four chamber symphonies were also commissioned and premiered by the orchestra. Reincarnation consists of two movements, performed attaca, with a setting of 13th-century texts from the historic Shin-Kokin-Wakashu anthology of “waka” poetry.
