World Premeire of Agata Zubel's Es lärmt das Licht Concludes her Residency in Switzerland

On June 30, the premiere of Es lärmt das Licht, Agata Zubel's latest work for soprano and string orchestra to a text by Reiner Maria Rilke, will conclude the composer's residency at HEMU - Haute École de Musique in Lausanne. Agata Zubel's Swiss residency for the 2023-2024 academic year was a unique opportunity to explore the original musical world of this versatile artist, internationally renowned composer, vocalist and improviser. Both HEMU students and the general public have had the opportunity to become acquainted with her work in various ways, including concerts, workshops, master classes and discussions. Es lärmt das Licht will be heard for the first time at the International Sacred Music Festival in Fribourg (FIMS). It is a composition commissioned by FIMS, and will be performed by l'Ensemble de musique contemporaine de l'HEMU and soprano Raphaële Kennedy, with Guillaume Bourgogne conducting. The premiere will not only be the culmination of Agata Zubel's composer residency, but will also uphold the festival's tradition of cooperation with the academic center.
