And on August 5, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, led by Semyon Bychkov, performed the world premiere of Julian Anderson's complete Symphony No. 2 "Prague Panoramas". Julian Anderson notes:

"I have admired Josef Sudek’s book Prague Panoramic since I first saw it 16 years ago. The breadth and sweep of his astonishingly beautiful panoramic photographs evoke orchestral sonorities every time I look at them. An important aspect of the photographs which gives them a somewhat surreal quality is their lack of a single focal point - everything is in sharp focus, no matter how vast the panoramas. For my work, I have selected a number of the most striking images. I find them a hugely stimulating source of creative energy and intensity. If ever there was a musical book of photographs, this is it."

Symphony No. 2 "Prague Panoramas" has garnered rave reviews following the premiere. Geoff Brown of The Times noted, "The wait was worth it, for his 'Prague Panoramas' constitute one of the most ear-tickling pieces of new British music in some time." Andrew Clements (The Guardian) called the symphony "Ambitious and substantial" while Claire Seymour of Seen and Heard International praised its "Architecture and landscape chiselled in sounds of great beauty, intricacy and invention." Colin Anderson (Colin's Column) says, "Time spent very rewardingly, with a need to listen again...A punchy opener of energy and incident, boldly striding."
