Wojciech Kilar's Orawa in Los Angeles
Dec. 01, 2018
On December 7, Wojciech Kilar's Orawa will be performed by Delirium Musicum at The Wende Museum in Los Angeles. Orawa refers to a region near the Polish-Slovak border marked by rugged, mountainous terrain, and this piece is the final work in Kilar’s so-called “Tatra Mountain Works” for string orchestra. Incredibly popular with performers and audiences alike for its folk-like open harmonies and driving rhythmic patterns, Orawa has been arranged for a variety of forces including string quartet, twelve saxophones, accordion trio, and eight cellos.
