Vijay Iyer: Onstage and In Conversation
Jul. 15, 2020

Vijay Iyer will be interviewed by Joe Chesterman-March, founder of the No Dice Collective, on his August 1 podcast Classical Music Now. Last month, Vijay Iyer's trio with bassist Nick Dunston and drummer Jeremy Dutton, performed live at the Village Vanguard in NYC, and the performances were livestreamed to an appreciative virtual audience. Since the lockdown began, Vijay Iyer has remained active, performing live as part of the virtual Bang On A Can Marathon, hosting a Masterclass for National Sawdust, and curating a full afternoon of performances for Act4Music in memory of his friend and collaborator Prashant Bhargava. Last month, Vijay released INWHATSTRUMENTALS (Pi Recordings) - the previously unheard instrumental version of his 2003, post-9/11 collaboration with Mike Ladd In What Language. Vijay Iyer has generously donated all his proceeds from these events to communities of color disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
