Valgeir Sigurðsson’s <em>Dreamland</em> with the Spokane Symphony

Valgeir Sigurðsson’s bewitching orchestral work Dreamland receives two performances on October 8 and 9 with the Spokane Symphony. Eckart Preu leads the orchestra in a live-to-projection performance alongside the accompanying documentary film by Andri Snær Magnason. The documentary, based on Magnason’s book “Dreamland: A Self-Help Manual for a Frightened Nation,” explores the destruction and exploitation of the natural resources in Sigurðsson’s home country of Iceland.

On November 3, André de Ridder leads the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in the debut performance of Sigurðsson’s short new orchestral work Struck. The performance takes place at the Reykjavik Harpa concert hall.
