US Premiere of Oliver Knussen's O Hototogisu!
Oct. 01, 2018

On October 26-27, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by Daniel Harding, present the US Premiere of Oliver Knussen’s O Hototogisu! Following Oliver Knussen's untimely passing in July, he has been remembered in tributes around the world as one of the most eminent and influential composer-conductors of our time and leaves behind him a body of work of crystalline concision, complexity, and richness. Ensemble Signal, led by Brad Lubman, perform a tribute concert to the composer on October 15 at the University of Buffalo’s Center for 21st Century Music. The program includes Knussen’s Sonya’s Lullaby, Hums and Songs of Winnie the Pooh, Secret Psalm, and Songs Without Voices, as well as works by Elliott Carter and Toru Takemitsu.
In addition, The Juilliard School’s AXIOM Ensemble, led by Jeffrey Milarsky, will perform Knussen’s Two Organa on October 14 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in New York.
