US Premiere of Gavin Bryars's New York
Sep. 01, 2018
On September 29, conductor Michael Linville leads the New World Symphony in the US premiere of Gavin Bryars's New York. Bryars notes:
"The title [of this work] refers not in fact to the US metropolis but rather to a small village in Lincolnshire (England) which lies near the town of Boston. Written for the Percussions Claviers de Lyon, the piece is one expanse with differing instrumental textures and tempos characterizing each section."
