Music by Schott New York Composers Across the US

Several works from the Schott New York catalogue receive performances throughout the country this month, including pieces by Andrew Norman, Pierre Jalbert, Bernard Rands, Robert Beaser and Joseph Schwantner.
On March 1, Daniel Nesta Curtis leads the Carnegie Mellon University Contemporary Music Ensemble in a performance of Andrew Norman’s Try, for chamber orchestra. At Jones Concert Hall in Waco, Texas, Robert Beaser’s Manhattan Roll receives a performance on March 6 by the Baylor University Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble led by Eric Wilson. Also this month, the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra gives a performance of Pierre Jalbert’s Les espaces infinis as part of its program “The Final Frontier”. The concert takes place on March 22 at the Temple Theatre in Saginaw, Missouri.
Two works by Joseph Schwantner receive performances this month. On March 9, Rutgers University performs Joseph Schwantner’s Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra at the Nicholas Music Center, with soloist Benjamin Paysen. Also on March 9, the Colorado Chamber Orchestra of the Springs performs September Canticle at Grace Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs.
Bernard Rands also sees performances of two works: "now again"-fragments from Sappho, for mezzo-soprano and chamber ensemble, and London Serenade, for orchestra. Rands’s "now again"-fragments from Sappho is performed by DePaul University’s Ensemble 20+ on March 7. Conductor Michael Lewanski leads the performance, which features soloist Julie Bentley. On March 14, the Berkshire Symphony performs Rands’s London Serenade at Williams College's Chapin Hall in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
