United States Premiere of Gavin Bryars' And so ended Kant’s travelling in this world…

Mar. 06, 2007

On Friday, March 16, 2007 the choral ensemble Boston Secession presents "Surprised by Beauty: Minimalism in Choral Music." The program will feature a set of choral works of meditative quality, most notably the U.S. premiere of Gavin Bryars’ And so ended Kant’s travelling in this world… and a performance of Arvo Pärt’s The Beatitudes. Artistic Director Jane Ring Frank elaborates on the music of this program:

"In the late 1970s, minimalism toppled the dissonant...world of atonality, and now, 30 years later, we have a generation of composers who have refined choral minimalism into absolutely gorgeous modern music."

"Surprised by Beauty" takes place on March 16 at 8PM in the First Congregational Church of Cambridge.
