Teatro Real de Madrid and BelAir Classiques Release Kurt Weill's Street Scene on DVD and Blu-Ray
Dec. 01, 2019
The remarkable 2018 production of Kurt Weill's Street Scene at Teatro Real de Madrid has been released on DVD and Blu-Ray by BelAir Classiques, marking the first video recording of Street Scene in nearly twenty-five years. Starring Patricia Racette and Tony-award winner Paulo Szot as Anna and Frank Maurrant, the Teatro Real production gives Weill's "American opera" a new international spin. John Fulljames directs this extraordinary production under Tim Murray's baton, capturing the vitality and energy of a New York neighborhood. This is Fulljames’s third time directing Street Scene; he headed previous productions at London’s Young Vic, and again at The Opera Group with Murray joining as conductor. Fulljames’s production will travel to Opéra de Monte-Carlo and Oper Köln next year. To purchase this new recording, click here.
