World Premiere of Kurt Weill's <em>Symphonic Suite from "Johnny Johnson"</em> with the MDR Sinfonieorchester

On October 7, Kristjan Järvi and the MDR Sinfonieorchester give the world premiere of the new Symphonic Suite from “Johnny Johnson,” arranged by Gene Pritsker. The concert takes place at the Leipzig Gewandhaus and will be broadcast in Germany on MDR Klassik and MDR Kultur on October 8.

Later this month, Die sieben Todsünden opens at the GötesborgsOperan on October 21, and runs in repertory through December 5. Director David Radok and conductor Anthony Hermus lead this new production, starring Swedish singer and actress Edda Magnason as Anna I. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra performs Symphony No. 1, “Berliner Sinfonie” on October 21. Productions of The Threepenny Opera are plentiful this fall, starting at Cleveland Opera Theater on October 27 and 29.
