Camille Saint-Saëns's Samson et Dalila at The Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera's 2018-2019 season includes an exciting new production of Camille Saint-Saëns's Samson et Dalila, opening September 24 and running in repertoire through March 2019. Sir Mark Elder conducts and Darko Tresnjak directs the first new Met production of the work in 20 years. Superstars Elīna Garanča, mezzo-soprano, and tenor Roberto Alagna sing the title roles from September through the end of October.

The new production will use the new Bärenreiter Urtext edition, part of the L‘Opéra français series, which will comprise critical editions of operas created in the period of great social upheaval between the Revolution and the outbreak of World War I including works by Saint-Saëns, Auber, Massenet, Gounod, Bizet, and other composers.
