Robert Shaw's Many Moods of Christmas Continues Yearly Run of Nationwide Performances
Dec. 02, 2008
The Many Moods of Christmas suites ring in the holiday season with performances in over 20 states and three countries this year, marking its continued popularity on both recordings and in performance. Composed by Robert Shaw and orchestrated by legendary Broadway arranger Robert Russell Bennett, The Many Moods of Christmas is a lively medley of all of your favorite traditional holiday carols. This year it is performed across the US in nearly every major city and state in almost every region of the country. Check our performance calendar or your local concert listings to see if there's a performance near you.
This year we are pleased to announce a recent addition to the Christmas canon: A Christmas Overture, by British composer Nigel Hess, commissioned in 2007 by conductor John Rutter and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This overture is a festive medley of several recognizable holiday melodies, as well as original music from Hess, a celebrated British composer known for his music for television and film. A recording of A Christmas Overture is available on the new Collegium recording "A Christmas Festival", performed by John Rutter and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
