Dec. 03, 2008

On Thursday, January 29, Carnegie Hall presents Making Music: Peter Eötvös, the third installment of the three-part concert series featuring today's eminent composers in Zankel Hall. Music Director of the Ensemble Intercontemporain from 1979-1991, Mr. Eötvös boasts a prolific career as both a composer and conductor. Most recently, his opera Love and Other Demons, based on the writing of Gabriel García Márquez, saw its successful world premiere at Glyndebourne in the summer of 2008. Mr. Eötvös has also enjoyed considerable success in the US; his opera Angels in America saw productions at Opera Boston in 2006 and Fort Worth Opera in 2007. In the summer of 2007 Mr. Eötvös was honored as the featured composer and Composer-in-Residence at the Ojai Festival.

As part of the evening's events at Carnegie, Mr. Eötvös will engage in a pre-concert discussion with Jeremy Geffen, Carnegie Hall's Director of Programming. The concert also features soprano Barbara Hannigan and double-bell trumpeter Brandon Ridenour.
