Critical Acclaim for Opera North's Production of Kurt Weill's <em>Street Scene</em>

The reviews are in – Opera North’s production of Kurt Weill's Street Scene is a hit! Directed by Matthew Eberhardt and conducted by James Holmes, Weill’s American opera will continue in Leeds throughout February, followed by a UK tour in March. The Times gave the production five stars calling it“…impeccable… a special show that I’d pay to see again.” In addition, it earned four stars from Bachtrack, who praised "...a thrilling, enthusiastically applauded moment..." four stars from The Guardian which noted “…real dramatic fire… engaging music theatre, beautifully done", and The Stage which gave it four stars also, calling it “…luminous…this is an exceptional ensemble production.” Read additionl reviews of this work, considered to be the culmination of Weill’s dream of creating an opera for Broadway, here.
