Dec. 17, 2021

The North American Premiere of Danny Elfman’s new Percussion Concertofor acclaimed British percussionist Colin Currie, will take place at Soka Performing Arts Center on April 24, with the Pacific Symphony, led by Carl St. Clair. The Percussion Concerto was co-commissioned by Soka University and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

The world premiere takes place on March 25, in a program to be conducted by Ludwig Wicki, which will also include choral/orchestral suites from Danny Elfman's scores to Tim Burton's Batman and Alice in Wonderland, as well as excerpts from Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings Symphony.

The Percussion Concerto follows on from the success of Danny Elfman's earlier concertante work, the Violin Concerto 'Eleven Eleven', written for and recorded by Sandy Cameron with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and already with over 20 performances since its 2017 launch in Prague.
