New York City Ballet Performs George Balanchine’s Episodes, With Music by Anton Webern

The New York City Ballet performs Episodes, a four-part, neoclassical work choreographed by George Balanchine, set to the music of Anton Webern on February 6, 9, 25, and 29 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. Balanchine held Webern’s music in high esteem declaring that it “fills the air like molecules”. Paul Taylor, the American choreographer who passed away in 2018, is honored in these performances, which feature the solo that Taylor danced when he performed Episodes. Musical works by Anton Webern that are incorporated into Episodes include: Symphony, op. 21 (1928), Five Pieces, op. 10 (1911-13), Concerto, op. 24 (1934), and Fuga 2. Ricercata in 6 Voices from Bach's Musical Offering (1935)
