We are proud to announce the release of several new publications including works for solo flute (Niccolò Paganini; arr. Marina Piccinini), chamber ensemble (Kamran Ince), chorus (Robert Beaser) and arias for voice and piano (Tobias Picker). 

Paganini/Piccinini: 24 Caprices for Solo Flute – Between 1805 and 1809, Niccolò Paganini composed his most famous work, the 24 Caprices for solo violin. The Caprices radically transformed the violin’s instrumental technique and have been an important inspiration to numerous composers and instrumentalists. In this new edition, virtuoso flutist Marina Piccinini presents her arrangements of Paganini’s violin Caprices for flute. These iconic showpieces are, in Piccinini’s words, “…not mere technical challenges, but inspired miniatures of extraordinary intensity.” Piccinini’s new arrangements of the Caprices remain true to Paganini’s uncompromising artistic vision and showcase an array of challenging techniques that idiomatically exploit the unique tone and expressive range of the flute.

Tobias Picker: Aria Books (Soprano, Mezzo-soprano, Tenor, Baritone/Bass) – In celebration of Tobias Picker’s 60th birthday, Schott Music is thrilled to announce the publication of a new four-volume aria anthology, featuring arias for soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, baritone and bass from each of the composer’s operas. The set comprises a definitive collection of Picker's arias, many of which are now available for the first time.   

Kamran Ince: Flight Box (arr. wind ensemble) – Flight Box, arranged for wind ensemble, was written to commemorate the opening of a new building at the Milwaukee Art Museum, designed by Santiago Calatrava. In addition to playing, performers sing and narrate with Turkish onomatopoetic texts throughout the piece. Flight Box is a diary of the composer’s travels between the US and Europe during the construction of the building, as well as two impressions of the building’s construction: the freedom of flight and the stability, grandeur and slow movement of a ship.

Robert Beaser: Meditation – Meditation, for solo voice, mixed chorus and piano, sets a beautiful quotation from the Psalms. It is found in the private, 4th-century meditation that concludes the Amidah, the central prayer of every Jewish service. Beaser writes: “With their simple directness, these words convey the intersection of deep faith and fervent questioning. In setting them I was mindful not only of their important place in Jewish liturgy, but also of the way in which they embody a universal essence of private prayer.”
