Naxos Releases Joseph Schwantner’s Chasing Light…

Naxos has just released a new disc devoted to the music of Joseph Schwantner, including the composer's Chasing Light…,Morning’s Embrace, and his landmark Percussion Concerto. All three works were performed by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Giancarlo Guerrero, with the Percussion Concerto featuring Christopher Lamb, for whom the work was originally written. The album was released on Naxos' the American Classics series, and is available as a CD and for download and streaming worldwide.
Chasing Light…, Schwantner’s 2008 commissioned work for the Ford Made in America Commissioning Consortium, has been performed by an unprecedented 58 orchestras in all 50 states, tallying up over 70 performances in all. The Nashville Symphony recording was made in June 2010, following its Tennessee premiere in the same month.
