Music by Huw Watkins Takes Center Stage at the Presteigne Festival

On August 27, Olivia Jageurs performs Huw Watkins’s Suite for Harp. The same day, Huw Watkins joins oboist Nicholas Daniel to perform Folksongs. On August 29, baritone Felix Kemp sings Look Down, Fair Moon, accompanied by the composer at the piano. Finally, the Leonore Piano Trio performs the world premiere of Huw Watkins’s Piano Trio No. 2 on August 29.

Recently, Huw Watkins was awarded a South Bank Sky Arts 2022 Classical Music award for the Hallé Orchestra’s performance of Symphony No. 2 as part of their Digital Season in April 2021. The Hallé will perform the first live performance of the work, which was commissioned by the Hallé and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, at The Bridgewater Hall in March 2023.
