Multiple Concerts Celebrate Schönberg's Legacy During the 150th Anniversary of his Birth

A host of exciting musical performances kick off a celebratory year marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Arnold Schönberg.
On January 30, members of the Berlin Philharmonic perform Pierrot lunaire featuring soprano Tabatha McFadyen with dancing by Allie Graham and choreography by Shannon Bruns, and Verklärte Nacht (for string sextet). The following evening, the Berlin Philharmonic, led by Daniele Gatti, perform Verklärte Nacht for string orchestra.

Schönberg's Gurre-Lieder is performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on February 1 by the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Groot Omroepkoor Laurens Symfonisch soloists: Robert Holl, speaker; Camilla Nylund, soprano; Ekaterina Semenchuk, mezzo; Norbert Ernst, tenor; Andreas Schager, tenor; and Wolfgang Koch, bass, under the baton of Riccardo Chailly.

Finally, Orchestra Vox presents Erwartung, a monodrama in one act alongside Poulenc's La voix humaine at St John's College Auditorium at Oxford University on February 2.
