Matthias Pintscher's mar'eh at the New World Symphony and the New York Philharmonic

Feb. 01, 2019

Matthias Pintscher's mar'eh at the New World Symphony and the New York Philharmonic

On February 16, the New World Symphony performs Matthias Pintscher's mar'eh under the direction of the composer, featuring violinist Renaud Capuçon. Pintscher leads the New York Philharmonic in the New York premiere of Mar'eh on February 21-23, again with Capuçon as soloist. The composer describes Mar’eh (a Hebrew word that can mean “a vision”) as shaped “in a very song-like fashion … high, fast, filigree.” The New York Philharmonic performance of Mar'eh on February 23 is followed by a 'Nightcap' in the Kaplan Penthouse curated by Pintscher, with host Nadia Sirota.
