Matthias Pintscher Leads The Cleveland Orchestra In Johannes-Maria Staud's On Comparative Meteorology
Jun. 08, 2010
On June 5 The Cleveland Orchestra celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Daniel R. Lewis Young Composer Fellow program with a free concert featuring four works commissioned by the orchestra throughout the fellowship program's history. Included in the concert were Matthias Pintscher's with lilies white and Johannes-Maria Staud's On Comparative Meteorology performed by the orchestra under the baton of Matthias Pintscher. Pintscher and Staud both participated in a pre-concert dialogue.
The current Daniel R. Lewis fellow is Schott composer Jörg Widmann, who is composing a new flute concerto for principal flutist Joshua Smith to be premiered under Franz Welser-Möst in the 2010-2011 season.
