Leif Ove Andsnes Performs World Premiere of Thomas Larcher's What becomes on Pictures Reframed

Nov. 03, 2009

Concert pianist Leif Ove Andsnes performs the world premiere of Thomas Larcher's What becomes for solo piano in the world premiere of his project with visual artist Robin Rhode entitled Pictures Reframed. Premiering on November 13 at Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Pictures Reframed project offers a new look at Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, drawing from Rhode's visual art and Andsnes' virtuosic talent to produce an extraordinary event. After the world premiere in New York, Pictures Reframed tours extensively in North America and Europe.

In addition to being reframed by Andsnes and Rhode, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition is performed in Los Angeles by composer and organist Jean Guillou, whose arrangement of the work is world-renowned by organists and listeners alike. Guillou performs on the Walt Disney Concert Hall organ on November 15. Guillou's Scenes d'Enfant is also included on the program at Walt Disney Hall.
