Critical Acclaim for Marimbist Kuniko Kato’s CD, "Tribute to Miyoshi"

Kuniko Kato’s newest album "Tribute to Miyoshi" was released on the Linn Records in September 2020 to great critical acclaim. The disc contains five works by Akira Miyoshi, four of which are solos performed by Kuniko Kato on marimba, as well as the Concerto for marimba and string ensemble featuring the Kato as soloist with the Scottish Ensemble, led by Jonathan Morton:

1. Conversation - Suite for marimba (1962) 
2. Torse III for marimba (1968)
3. Ripple for solo marimba (1999)
4. Concerto for marimba and string ensemble (1969)
5. 6 Prelude Etudes for marimba with 2 mallets (2001)



The disc, which is a personal tribute to one of Japan’s most celebrated post-war composers, Akira Miyoshi (1933–2013), has received a series of excellent reviews and showcases Miyoshi’s marimba works from the last four decades of the 20th-century. This recording represents a reference collection commemorating the composer’s significant contribution to this repertoire.
