Joseph Schwantner Continues Composer Residencies Across the Country

Jan. 25, 2010

Joseph Schwantner continues his tenure as featured composer of the Ford Made in America Commissioning Consortium and his work Chasing Light... is in the midst of its tour of more than 50 orchestras across the country. As part of his duties to FMIA, Schwantner is making regular appearances in workshops and composer residencies at orchestras and universities nationwide. Schwantner elaborates:

The primary focus of the FMIA residencies is to foster audience awareness and engagement with contemporary music and living composers and to promote the community and educational goals of the Ford Made in America Program. The residencies cover a wide range of musical and educational activities and events that include: open rehearsals and performances of Chasing Light...; lectures and classes with local elementary, high school and university students in a variety of forums; and additional lectures and discussions with musicians and audience members alike.
