Jeffrey Milarsky and AXIOM Perform Alvin Singleton's Again

On October 29, Jeffrey Milarsky leads AXIOM in a performance of Alvin Singleton's Again at Alice Tully Hall. Again (1979), a chamber orchestra piece for 14 players, was commissioned by the Austrian Radio and awarded the Musikprotokoll kompositionpreis. It lives sonically in two worlds, jazz and classical. Winds, brasses, strings, piano and percussion cycle through a variety of solos and ensemble textures. Again was first performed by London Sinfonietta in 1979 at the Styrian Autumn Festival in Graz, Austria.

Earlier this month, the Momenta Quartet performed Alvin Singleton's String Quartet No. 1 as part of The Concourse Counterpoint Fall Festival at the Andrew Freedman Home in the Bronx, NY.
