Hindemith's Mathis der Maler Performed by the Brooklyn Philharmonic at BAM

This month the Brooklyn Philharmonic presents Paul Hindemith’s symphony Mathis der Maler as part of their season finale program entitled “The Ride to Redemption.”Mathis der Maler, also one of Hindemith's most noted operas, concerns the struggle of a painter in medieval Europe seeking artistic expression. The Brooklyn Philharmonic’s performance of the symphony Mathis der Maler is conducted by Michael Christie and takes place on Saturday May 12 at 8 PM at BAM’s Howard Gilman Opera House.
Also on the program, the Brooklyn Philharmonic collaborates with New York’s Ridge Theatre in a staging of Henryk Górecki’s Symphony No. 3. In this performance, Ridge Theatre creates a world premiere staging that incorporates hallucinatory film and visual effects to accompany the score.
