Giovanni Verrando's Camera Music Explores the Desire for Power in Malmö

Camera Music, a collection of eight pieces for male voice, five musicians, electronics, and stock footage clips by Giovanni Verrando was performed at the Inter Arts Center at Lund University in Malmö on October 6. The work, premiered in May 2026 at the Festival Milano Musica by Marcelo Marchetti and the mdi ensemble, specifically addresses the desire for power that human beings exert over the natural and social worlds. Verrando notes that this topic is debated sometimes ironically, other times more painfully and harshly in music, text, and video.
