Francisco Coll Wins the Inaugural IMCA Composer Award

On January 17, the International Classical Music Awards (IMCA) named Francisco Coll as the inaugural recipient of their Composer Award.

Following his acceptance, Coll said in an interview with El País: "I spend my life locked in my studio working – and to receive recognition like this is an immense dose of energy for me to move forward. One almost gets dizzy seeing one’s name next to such important musicians."

On February 1, the Orquesta de València, led by Alexander Shelley, performed Francisco Coll's Mural (2013-15) at the Palau de la Música. Also on February 1, Patricia Kopatchinskaja led the Camerata Bern in their performance of Coll's Four Iberian Miniatures at the Theater Casino Zug. The Camerata Bern, again led by Kopatchinskaja, performed the work on February 3 on a concert curated by Francisco Coll, their current composer-in-residence.
