Faber Music Signs Neil Brand

Faber Music has announced the signing of renowned British composer, pianist, dramatist and broadcaster Neil Brand

A well-known silent film accompanist and composer, Brand is recognized for his work as a TV presenter on BBC4 with his hugely successful series Sound of Cinema: The Music that Made the Movies (2013), Sound of Song (2015), and most recently the acclaimed Sound of Musicals (2017).

In addition, Neil Brand is a Fellow of Aberystwyth University, and a Visiting Professor of the Royal College of Music. At the Pordenone Silent Film Festival, he co-founded the School of Music and Image to teach silent film accompaniment to talented, young pianists. Neil Brand was awarded the BASCA Gold Badge in 2016 and is considered one of the finest improvising piano accompanists in the world.

Two through-scored concert plays by Brand are now published by Faber Music: A Christmas Carol for ten actors, 24 singers & orchestra—which was revived in 2016 at the Barbican by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC singers—as well as The Wind in the Willows for ten actors, four singers & orchestra. A third concert work is on its way.
