Danny Elfman's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra "Eleven Eleven" in Paris and Hawaii

On September 14-15, the Philharmonie de Paris presents "Danny Elfman Weekend". In addition to events focusing on Danny Elfman's film music, the weekend will also include the French premiere of the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra - "Eleven Eleven" as well as his Piano Quartet. The concerto will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic, featuring violinist Sandy Cameron, on September 15, while the Piano Quartet will be performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet on September 14.

Additionally, on September 21-22, Michael Stern leads the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, again featuring Sandy Cameron, in the performance of the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra - "Eleven Eleven". The program also includes Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man and Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique. Elfman's concerto, described by Sony Classical as “Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev running into the groove of Beetlejuice”, is the composer's first freestanding orchestral work, co-commissioned by Prague Proms, Royal Scottish Orchestra, and Stanford Live. It was written for violinst Sandy Cameron and premiered by her in Prague in June 2017. Listen to Danny Elfman discuss the creation of the piece here:
