Boston Musica Viva Give the American Premiere of Wolfgang Rihm's In Frage
Nov. 01, 2006

The contemporary music ensemble Boston Musica Viva will perform the American premiere of Wolfgang Rihm’s In Frage on Friday, November 17. Its world premiere having been given in 2000 by Ensemble Recherche in Austria, In Frage is Rihm’s third piece dedicated to the artist Kurt Kocherscheidt, and its often mournful tones serve as commentary on the forms in Kocherscheidt’s work. Boston Musica Viva’s performance will take place at the Tsai Performance Center at Boston University under conductor Richard Pittman.
Elsewhere the energetic and always innovating ensemble Alarm Will Sound will perform Rihm’s Will Sound, a work commissioned by the ensemble and premiered in February of this year. Alarm Will Sound reprises Will Sound on Saturday, November 11 at the Rubendall Recital Hall of Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA.
