The BAZ-GA presents all of the composer's musical works and writings, as well as a selection of his extensive correspondence as a historical-critical edition. As a hybrid edition, it consists of a printed edition published in volumes, and a digital online edition. The printed music volumes are designed to meet the requirements of a reliable music edition. Additionally, the digital edition takes account of a deeper philological interest, delineates all editorial decisions, illustrates the interconnectedness of the œuvre and, in particular, makes the sources central to the edition accessible. The introductions, footnotes in the scores, and central parts of the critical reports are published in German and English.
Partners involved in the complete edition include the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz. Additional volumes, including Chamber Music, Vocal Works, and Writings will follow in the next few years.
