Bernard Rands's "Chains Like The Sea" Released by NMC Recordings

A new CD of Bernard Rands's orchestral music entitled "Chains Like the Sea" will be released by NMC Recordings on February 22. Featuring performances by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and cellist Johannes Moser, under the baton of Clark Rundell, the new CD includes some of Rands's most beloved orchestral works including Danza Petrificada, Concerto No. 1, and the eponomyous Chains Like the Sea. Additionally, several performances of Rands's works take place this month. On February 20, Robert Walters leads the Guarneri Hall Ensemble in a sold-out celebration and concert for Bernard Rands who will celebrate his 85th birthday in March. On the program are Rands's Music for Shoko: Aubade and String Quartet No. 2. Finally, pianist Daniel Pesca performs Bernard Rands's Four Impromptus at Fulton Hall at the University of Chicago on Feburary 23, marking the world premiere performance of the complete set of piano pieces.
