Bernard Rands at June in Buffalo Festival

Bernard RandsBernard Rands' music is being celebrated in the June in Buffalo festival this month, with the composer lecturing, leading masterclasses, and having three of his works performed. The June 5, 6 and 7 performances feature the works Memo 4 for solo flute, Walcott Songs for mezzo-soprano and cello, and Concertino for solo oboe and ensemble, respectively.

Rands comments:

I have had and enjoyed a long association with June in Buffalo whose director, David Felder, is a former student of mine and a fine composer whose work I admire. The June in Buffalo festival has developed over more than 25 years and provides opportunities for selected young composers to hear their music rehearsed, performed and recorded, and to participate in masterclasses with an array of distinguished composers. It is, in my opinion, one of the finest events of its kind and a significant contribution to our profession. (I also met Augusta [Rands and composer Augusta Read Thomas are married] there 18 years ago - and the rest is history!!!!)
