World Premiere of Jay Schwartz's Arrangement of Béla Bartók's Petite Suite
Sep. 01, 2018
On September 2, the Festival Strings Lucerne, conducted by Daniel Dodds, gave the world premiere of Jay Schwartz's arrangement of Béla Bartók's Petite Suite. In 1936, Bartók made a piano reduction of six of his 44 Duos for Two Violins to create Petite Suite, which Schwartz arranged for string orchestra.
In addition, on September 12, the Oulu Sinfonia, conducted by Johannes Gustavsson, performed Bartók's Piano Concerto no. 2, and on September 14, they will perform the composer's Piano Concerto no. 1. Olli Mustonen is the soloist for both performances, which are part of the Bartók Festival 2018 in Oulu.
